This day of Enhanced Skills Training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and its application in practice. Data on the effectiveness of the treatment method will also be presented, and screening and diagnostics will be considered. The aim is to learn how to handle the book, integrate client problems into the training and learn how to apply the theory.
The training is based on the manual for skills training published in 2016 in Dutch; the DGT skills, Manual for skills training dialectical behavioral therapy, Marsha M. Linehan, Dutch translation, L.M.C. (Wies) van den Bosch, sixth edition 2016.
The skill training manual requires skill trainers to:
- skills in teaching skills,
- ability to integrate knowledge about the problems of the individual client into the training,
- the art of motivating clients to also practice the skills, and
- maintain the dialectical attitude when managing a skill group.
The objective of the training is to provide participants with the skills to develop and/or carry out a skills training within the DGT program.
Study load
The training day is seven and a half hours including breaks. The preparatory study load amounts to six hours, together 13 and a half hours.
The participant will be trained in the handling of the manual, the skills in teaching skills, the ability to integrate knowledge about the problems of the individual client into the training, the art of motivating clients to practice the skills and to manage the group with the dialectical attitude.
In addition, the current scientific information on borderline and co-morbidity is integrated into the training and the scientific studies on the effectiveness DBT will be presented when requested.
In order to maximize the effectiveness of the training, participants are expected to have studied and used the “manual for skills training dialectical behavioral therapy” by Marsha Linehan (2016); ISBN 978 90 265 2280 2.
Entry Requirement
A certificate of the 10-day intensive DBT training or 5-day basic DBT training.

Target audience
The target group of the course are cognitive behavioral therapists, cognitive behavioral therapeutic workers, mental health psychologists, (psychiatric) nurses, psychiatrists, pedagogues, psychotherapists, agogues and social psychiatric nurses who (want) carry out the DGT skills training and/or want to integrate it into the individual DBT psychotherapy. In addition, multidisciplinary composite consultation teams can participate.
