There is only limited attention for suicide prevention for people with a personality disorder (PD). However, the risk of a successful suicide attempt, or death due to risky behavior, is greater for clients diagnosed with a PD. Moreover, this group is characterized by a high degree of healtcare use. In other words, the presence and pressure of this target group in health care is much greater than we would suspect based on the prevalence. In this 2-day training we pay attention to the assessment and treatment of people with a borderline PD (BPD).<\/p>\n<p>This requires a specialized approach because of the suicidal and self-injurious behavior in people with a BPD that might be a persistent (and therefore familiar) way of coping. This results in extreme reactions among health proffesionals: on the one hand, underestimating the acute risk and doing nothing and on the other, overestimating the acute risk and using coercive measures. With this 2-day training we present how you handle those who paths. We focus on clearly identifying the risk and motivating non-suicide. In addition, we consider the emotional impact of persistent suicidal and self-injurious behavior on the care provider.<\/p>\n<p>The third day, approximately two months later, is all about exercising with the theoretic framework worked on in the first two days. Participants take their own experiences from the in between period to the training, it will be connected tot the theory to go back to practice again and exercise. Roleplay, demonstration and discussion can be used. This third day translates practice to theory and back to practice, aiming on exercises and applying the learned skills.<\/p>\n<p>3-days su\u00efcide prevention training<\/p>\n<p>General goals:\u00a0<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Knowing Linehans assumptions about suicidal behavior and treatment<\/li>\n<li>Understanding Linehans assumptions, bio-social theory, and skills deficit model for chronic suicidal behavior<\/li>\n<li>Knowing the steps in the crisis protocol<\/li>\n<li>Being oriented on DBT as evidence-based intervention for suicidal behavior as part of the multi-disciplinary guidelines<\/li>\n<li>Understanding the difference between 1) chronic versus acute suicide risc, 2) direct and indirect cues for suicidal behavior 3) respondent and operant suicidal behavior, 4) systematically examine acute suicidal behavior and \u2018predict\u2019 it<\/li>\n<li>Understanding what effective and damaging interventions are when suicidal behavior is maintained by antecedents or consequents<\/li>\n<li>Being aware of the factors to consider when the question of hospitalization rises.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>Studyload<\/h2>\n<p>The course takes place on two days, starting at 09:00 a.m. and ending at 05:00 p.m. The study load is 10 hours each day, resulting in a total study load of 26 hours (breaks included).[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>Participants<\/h2>\n<p>Cognitive behavioral therapists, behavioral therapeutic workers, mental health psychologists, clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, psychotherapists, social-psychiatric nurses, orthopedagogues, specialised therapists, or psychologists who want to (learn how to) work with people with personanilty disorders and suicidality, and are commited to prevent suicide.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>Certificate<\/h2>\n<p>We expect 100% presence. To catch up on lessons is possible only after consultation with the trainers. To acquire a certificate the participant has to be present for at least 90% of the entire course. If\u00a0the\u00a0participant\u00a0cannot\u00a0meet\u00a0this\u00a0requirement,\u00a0it\u00a0is\u00a0possible,\u00a0after\u00a0consulting\u00a0Dialexis,\u00a0to\u00a0participate\u00a0in\u00a0another\u00a0training course\u00a0within\u00a01\u00a0calendar\u00a0year\u00a0after\u00a0the\u00a0missed\u00a0training\u00a0day.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column
