Training to apply the manual for the DBT skills training.
Linehan’s manual for the skills training Dialectical Behavior Therapy is a book of 580 pages with discussed skills (as well as the research results on which they are based), and in which a course in behavior therapy is given. Besides, validation is discussed and protocols are provided that help with nightmares and countering drug abuse. The book contains a multiplicity of formats, provides the possibility to differentiate in what which client at which module in the training needs. Therefore, the skills training gains importance in the whole of a DBT program, because it can now truly connect to the individual therapy.
At the same time this manual asks of the trainers for:
- know-how in the teaching of the skills,
- the ability to integrate knowledge of the problems of the individual client in the training,
- the art to motivate clients to practice the skills, and
- management of the dialectical attitude in a skills group.
This is not an easy task. Hence, Pearson and Dialexis have decided to organize a 3-day training in which participants are trained to give the skills training. Not only will the question ‘how to use the book’ be a theme, but also are integration of the problems of clients and dealing with the group explicitly part of the program.
3 days of 9.30-17.00, plus an interim workload of 6 hours. The total workload comes down to 28,5 hours.
There are no scheduled trainings yet.
